Wow, I was only going to do one Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pic. Leonardo is my favorite, but like many I am pretty partial to them all. The TMNT have been around for twenty-five years now, and it kind of blows my mind. I was way into turtles back in the day and rode the first wave of Turtlemania. I watched the cartoon everyday after school. I ate box after box of that terrible marshmallow cereal hoping to win the whole set of TMNT toys. I would torment my sister with a sawed off broom handle pretending to be Donatello, I even made a pair of nunchuks, later confiscated by my fifth grade teacher. The only video tape I ever wore out was the 1990 movie which, much to my girlfriend's consternation, I can still quote most of.
Of course I would draw them constantly, day in and day out. I had a reprinted collection of the first two issues from which I would painstakingly copy the turtles and Shredder over and over again until I could do it without reference. I would learn each little bit of a new character from the show. As I got better at drawing I moved away from the turtles onto super heroes, and then anime and more and more I would do my own stuff, but there's still a lot of turtles style left in my own and I think there always will be.
Now that I'm staring down thirty I think it has been fun to look back and get caught up in the things I loved when I was ten.
